No you should not attempt to lock the 5 Minute CleverChef whilst cooking. As a safety feature the latch cannot be locked. The latch will fall into a down position. But will not lock. The latch is to help secure the 5 Minute CleverChef when stored.

5 Minute CleverChef wipes down easily using a damp soapy cloth or sponge. Dry with a soft towel or allow to air dry. Do not immerse in water.
For the 5 Minute CleverChef Deluxe only, the plates are removable, and can be washed separately, either with warm soapy water or placed in the dishwasher.

Yes! It's extremely easy and takes just seconds.
First, always ensure the 5 Minute CleverChef Deluxe is unplugged and has completely cooled before attempting to remove the cooking plates.
The top and bottom cooking plates are easy to remove with a slide of the release buttons built into the unit.
Once released, simply lift out the plates, and slide the new pair of plates into the brackets, and press down to lock. It takes just seconds, and you're ready to begin cooking!
